GOLDSCHMIED, Marta - On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Marta Goldschmied, devoted Wife of the late Leslie Goldschmied, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 95.

Loving Mother and Mother-in-law of Judy and the late Mordechai (Mordy) Silberstein, Mary Batalion, Isobel and Marc Lustig. Dear Sister of the late Alex Weisz, and the late Ili.

Cherished Bubbie and Beeba of Daniel, Ilaneet and Shlomi, Shlomi and Justine, Moshe and Stacey, Tal and Kim, Avi and Christine, Bryan and Mollie, Carly and Brennan, and Bubbie and Beeba to great-grandchildren Ryan, Alex, Adam, Mia, Mika, Ezra, Jordan, Jude, Cash, Makenzie, Stevie, Grayden, and Kai.

A Holocaust survivor who remembered her past, yet maintained her love of people and her joy of living.

More than the family matriarch, she was everyone’s rock, and mother to everyone. She nurtured, encouraged, and accepted without judgment. Though dignified and gracious, that didn’t stop her from joining in an evening of family fun or friendly antics.

Her genteel demeanour belied her fierce determination. Her purpose in life was to care for her family, and to always be kind to everyone, and to help others. She was a wonderful and caring friend to many. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Jaya, who lovingly helped make it possible for her to remain in her home, as she wished. A family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Private Family Service and livestream arrangements are entrusted with Steeles Memorial Chapel.

If you desire, a memorial donation can be made to The Association for the Soldiers of Israel – Canada, 416-783-3053.
