It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Alfred Francis Browne (Frank), loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In his 95th year, Frank passed away peacefully, surrounded by love.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Rita (nee Gilbert) loving father of Paul, Peter, Catherine (Peter), Patrick (Elizabeth), Teresa (Jim), predeceased by Michael and Margaret.

Loving grandfather to Heidi, Jennifer, Andrew, James, Kristen, Courtney, Caitlin, Meaghan, Beverley, Michael, Jacqueline, Emma, predeceased by Jonathan. He will be greatly missed by his great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family was everything to Frank.

Son of the late Pearl (Gibson) and Alfred Neil (Browne). Frank was born and raised in East York, Ontario. He attended St. Brigid Catholic School followed by St. Michael's College. He spent his early days playing hockey, fishing and always enjoyed a good party.

It was at a mutual friend's party that he met his wife Rita. The two began courting and were married in 1951 at Blessed Sacrament Church.

Frank graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto in 1951. This year would mark the 70th year since his graduation. He completed his internship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences shortly after.  He was a brilliant surgeon and took pride in his profession. He completed over 23,000 successful hernia repairs before fully retiring in 1990.

A devout Catholic, Frank was deeply involved with Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and its community. In addition to being a Eucharistic Minister, he would often partake in social functions and fundraising events for causes such as the Serra Club of Toronto and Right to Life Canada.

He and his wife Rita loved Ballroom Dancing and took part in many competitions over the years. It wouldn't be uncommon for him to get up and start dancing in his home when he enjoyed a good song.

Visitation will be held at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, Scarborough. Funeral Mass will be held at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 3 Combermere Dr., North York.
