Patterson WilliamPATTERSON, William John (Bill) Patterson  -  Died on May 12, 2021, at his home in Toronto.

Bill was born on December 25, 1950 in Sussex, New Brunswick, to Edgar Murray Patterson and Jessie Elizabeth Keith.

Bill grew up on a small dairy farm in Roachville, NB.

He began grade one in a one-room school with one teacher providing daily lessons to grades 1-6. He graduated from Sussex High School and attended the University of New Brunswick.

Bill's love of horses began early in life and over the years he owned several.

After university, he spent a year in England studying at an equestrian school which prepared him for work in training horses for equestrian events in the Toronto area.

Upon retirement, Bill did volunteer work for the Red Cross, Community Kitchens, and the Canadian Cancer Society driving those in need to appointments.

Bill's biggest gift to those who knew him was his friendship and kindness. His final birthday as he turned 70 years was spent Christmas Day with close friends Bill and Stephen. As another close friend Margo said, "It was an honour to be Bill's friend. He was generous and kind and we will all miss him dearly".

Bill is survived by siblings Ron (Carlene), Susan Gilbert (Neil) and Rick (Carolyn Holyoke) along with 6 nieces and nephews: Brent Patterson, Stephanie Oldfield, Christine Gilbert-Estabrooks, Peter Gilbert, David Gilbert, Ted Patterson. In addition, he leaves behind many cousins.

Bill was predeceased by his parents and grandparents Richard and Mary Jane (McFarlane) Patterson and Daniel and Margaret (McKay) Keith. When conditions allow, a celebration of life will take place in his Toronto neighbourhood and interment will take place at the family plot in the Roachville Cemetery near his birthplace.

Donations in Bill's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or The PWA Foundation (People with Aids) would be appreciated.
