Singh Latchmin RosieSINGH, Latchmin 'Rosie' - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mrs. Latchmin Singh, fondly known as Rosie. She passed quietly on June 1st, 2021 at the age of 93.

She will be greatly missed by us all.

She was a mother of 7 (Rita, Olive, Darling, Leita, Suresh, Vidya, and George), grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 13.

Rosie was born in La Penitence, Guyana in April 1928, the eldest of 5 siblings. At just the time when she was poised to skip a standard in school to go from the 2nd to the 4th, her mother passed away in childbirth, causing Rosie to leave school at the age of 10 to take care of her 4 young siblings.

She was married to the late Pitambar (Paul) Singh in 1945 at the age of 16. Throughout the course of their 56 year marriage, they raised their beautiful children, immigrated to Canada and travelled the world together until Paul developed Alzheimer's. Rosie selflessly devoted herself to caring for him until his death in 2002.

In the years after her beloved husband’s passing, she became an icon in her seniors' residence where she was known and loved by all. She led the building’s exercise class well into her 90s, shared her delicious cooking with her neighbours, and made it a point to impart her wisdom onto her grandchildren whenever she could. She travelled to America, Jamaica, Brazil, Tobago, Guyana, The Netherlands, France, Belgium, Brussels, England, Spain, and Dominican Republic, where she celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends. She even made it to the Taj Mahal in India!

As a devout Hindu, her home was filled with the presence of God; in the constant bhajans she played, the beautiful altar she built and in the way she prayed for all of those around her. She never complained about her circumstances and was always grateful for the blessings in her life.
Rosie was a tremendous presence. She was small in stature but great in her lust for life, her desire to see the world, and her love for all those around her.

May her soul find peace.
Om Shanti
