Ridgway PhyllisRIDGWAY, Phyllis Ena (nee PICKWELL)    - Surrounded by the love of her family, Phyllis died peacefully on Friday, June 4, 2021, at the incredible age of 114, at Bridgepoint Active Healthcare.

Recently known as Canada's oldest living person, Phyllis lived her life on her own terms, including living independently in her own home that she had lived in for 80 years.

Phyllis was born in Lincoln, England and immigrated to Canada with her parents and three sisters, Olive, Minnie and Win in 1923.

Predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ernie and her only child Ron, Phyllis is survived by her daughter-in-law, Betty and her grandchildren Debbie (Stephen), David (Louise), Diane (Peter) and Barbara (Shawn).

Phyllis was also known as Gran to 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Phyllis worked at Eaton's Department Store at Yonge and College for many years and retired in 1972, just prior to the opening of the "new" Eaton Centre.

Phyllis enjoyed the company and support of the many friends she made over her years living in East York. In addition to being an accomplished painter, Phyllis loved dancing and playing the piano.

She loved being in the spotlight and in recent years enjoyed her several interviews on Global News with Susan Hay.

A special thank you to Dr. Leslie Beyers, Phyllis's primary care physician, who always went beyond the call of duty.

The family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors and staff at Bridgepoint Active Health Care, who took such great care of Phyllis in her final days.

Cremation has taken place and Phyllis will be laid to rest at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Bridgepoint Foundation would be appreciated.
