HOBBS, Peter Ernest - Long time resident of Maple, Ontario, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 5, 2021, in his 93rd year.
Born in Swansea, Wales to David and Ellen (née Keast) Hobbs, Peter grew up happily with his siblings, Irene, Margaret, Jack, and Betty on Townhill.
After high school, he served two years in the Royal Artillery and could recite his army number all of his life.
Peter married his wife Lorna in 1954 and together they immigrated to Canada from Wales in 1957.
They originally settled in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) where their son Stephen was born. After moving to Toronto, they welcomed daughter Kerry, and ultimately settled in Maple, Ontario.
Peter enjoyed a long career designing roads with the Ministry of Transportation.
He will be greatly missed by his son Stephen and his wife Wei, grandsons David and Andrew, and their mother Janet, his daughter Kerry and her partner Leah. Peter is fondly remembered by family in Wales, especially his nephew Stewart and his wife Gaynor. The family also appreciates the care given to Peter at Sunrise of Aurora and Lake Shore Lodge in his final years.
A special thank you to Christine Risi and Joanna Stein for their care and attention. We take solace in knowing Peter has been reunited with Lorna (who passed away in 2007) and his friends and family who have gone before him.
The family welcomes condolences, memories and photos at
