Hanslo LeonHANSLO, Leon James   -  May 17, 1949 - June 4, 2021

On Friday, June 4, 2021, heaven gained an angel. Leon James Hanslo passed away peacefully, at Billings Court Manor in Burlington, at the age of 72, after an 11-year battle with Ameloblastoma.

He is survived by his beloved wife Janice of 47 years, his two special daughters Christine and Jamie, his sister Merle (David) and nieces Olivia (her son Ryker) and Ainsley, as well as his loving mother-in-law Ruth Simon.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Leon and his family immigrated to Brighton, England, eventually settling in Toronto in 1965.

Leon was known for his infectious laugh, great sense of humor, and jolly personality. He instantly became an avid Toronto sports fan and enjoyed grooving to music and tearing up the dance floor.

He loved bringing people together to share his love for cooking and always made his traditional Sunday breakfast for his family, dubbing the name "Leon's Bistro".

Most of all, Leon was known for his tremendous strength and optimistic attitude in life. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Ralph Gilbert and staff at the University Health Network for their continuous care and compassion to Leon and our family, and to Billings Court Manor administration, nurses, and PSW's (Rose) during Leon's stay there as you truly deserve our gratitude and deepest appreciation.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 10th at 1:30 p.m. EDT, with plans for a Celebration of Life to take place when it is safe.

If desired, memorial contributions can be made in Leon's honour to the University Health Network.
