Maurice KanaMAURICE, Kanapathipillai N.Y. - From Toronto, Canada entered his eternal home on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the age of 86.

Maurice died peacefully after a short illness, and even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light in leading all who met him to his Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Beloved son of late Mr. K. G. Nalliah (Station Master) and late Mrs. Gnanammah Nalliah, was born in Chundikuli, Jaffna.

He is survived by his wife Lily Pavalamalar Maurice (nee Chellappah).

Loving brother of Kamala (UK), late Kingsley (Sri Lanka), Rajadevi (Sri Lanka), Gnanadevi (Sri Lanka), Balasingham (USA) and Rajasingham (Sri Lanka).

Loving father of Premini Kabilamany (USA) and Nilanthy Gnanasekaram (Canada), father-in-law of Caleb Kabilamany (USA) and Ivon Gnanasekaram (Canada).

Adored by his grandchildren Sangeetha & Timothy Gnaneswaran (USA), Sinthu Kabilamany (USA), Nathan and Joel Gnanasekaram (Canada), and great-grandchildren Judah, Lucas and Norah (USA).

Maurice will be missed and fondly remembered by his cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren across the globe.

Spending his school days at St. John’s College, Jaffna, he was an athlete and in his senior years he captained the cricket, football and athletic teams and was the Senior Prefect in 1956. He pursued his higher studies at Madras Christian College and completed his training in Applied Engineering Science in Bombay, India.

He started his career in National Textile corporation, Veyangoda, Sri Lanka, and continued at Jaffna College Institute of Technology as a Lecturer and Director of Sports.

He migrated to Canada in 1995 and enjoyed life with family and friends and continued his contribution to community service.

Visitation - Due to Covid-19 restrictions visitation will be limited and by invitation only. Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham.

A private thanksgiving service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at noon. Final Resting place Markham, Ontario.
