SANTAGUIDA, Maria - It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved mother and grandmother, Maria Santaguida, 90, who passed away in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 9, 2021.
She was born to her late parents, Giuseppe and Teresa Galati, Jan. 22, 1931, in Vallelonga, Vibo Valentia, Calabria, Italy. Maria moved to Canada in 1956, and married the late Giuseppe Santaguida in 1958.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Maria Tucci (the late Dominic Tucci), Teresa Maio (Tony Maio), her grandchildren Louie Tucci (Katherine Tucci), Elizabeth Tucci, Dominique Tucci, Domenic Maio, and great granddaughter Valentine Tucci.
Beloved sister of the late Fortunato Galati (the late Anna Galati), Vincenzo Galati (Vittoria Galati), the late Vittoria Bellissimo (the late Domenico Vincenzo Bellissimo), the late Domenico Galati, the late Gaspare Galati (Maria Rosa Galati), Bruno Galati (Maria Galati), Antonio Galati (the late Carmela Galati), and Vito Galati (Teresa Galati).
She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.
We will cherish our wonderful memories centered around the kitchen table. Her generosity, kindness, and traditions will be carried on by her family.
Due to the current Covid - 19 restrictions in Toronto that allow a maximum number of guests to attend a funeral, the service details will be kept private and attendance will be by invite-only
The family requests that donations are made in support of The Canadian Cancer Society, in lieu of sending flowers.
