TRATTNER, Freda Leah (McLaughlin) Freda Leah Trattner (McLaughlin) of Toronto, passed away suddenly on June 20, 2021.

Freda, affectionately called 'Fred' by her husband and close friends and Bubbie by her two grandchildren, passed at the age of 71 in Toronto.

She was born to parents Harold and Marie McLaughlin, March 29, 1950 in Saint John, New Brunswick. She married Tom in 1972. Freda is survived by her husband, her two sons Benjamin and Jesse, grandchildren Layla and Kareem, daughters-in-law Jasmine and Nicole and her brother George and his wife Sandy.

Freda was a true matriarch of the family, caring for all and always organizing family events and dinners. She was a passionate educator who worked for the Toronto District School Board supporting continuing education programs until she retired in 2010. Even in retirement, she continued to volunteer at TDSB schools, encouraging kids to read.

Since joining Tom in retirement, Freda has lived a full life. They have travelled across Europe, taking in all the museums, art galleries and wonders of the world in Italy, Portugal, Spain and Scotland to name a few. Each spring they would make their way to Dunedin, Florida to watch the Toronto Blue Jays in spring training action.

When not travelling, Freda spent time with her grandchildren, organizing lawn bowling tournaments and knitting blankets for expectant mothers of friends and family. She was an avid reader and a member of a book club, she loved to walk daily with her friends and was active on the board of directors for the Cosburn Park Lawn Bowling Club. Her energy and generous spirit will be missed by many.

Private Family Service will be live-streamed held on June 22, at the Pardes Chaim Cemetery. Arrangements and livestream details are entrusted with Steeles Memorial Chapel.
