Schofield YvonneSCHOFIELD, Yvonne - Age 91, passed away peacefully at the Birchmount Hospital (Scarborough Grace) on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

She was born May 4th, 1930 in Toronto to Phyllis and George Forsyth; growing up on Kippendavie Avenue in the Beach, attending Eastern Commerce High School and developing a circle of friends that continues to this day.

In 1951, she took a job in Camp Borden where she met one of her dearest friends who helped her stalk a young Sergeant who eventually became the love of her life and her husband, Arnold.

As an army wife, Yvonne travelled from post to post eventually ending up in Germany in 1956 where her first son Daryl was born.

Three years later her son Greg was born in London, Ontario. In 1967, her life took a sudden sad turn with the loss of Arnold just after taking a posting to Nova Scotia where his family was. From there she came back to Toronto, where with the help and love of her family and friends she raised her sons and went on to college to earn a social workers certificate that gave her a 25 career with Metro Social Services.

Retirement did not see Yvonne slow down, in fact up until Covid hit she was constantly off shopping with friends (Value Village was her favourite), “holding court” with family and friends around her backyard pool or telling anyone about her beloved grandchildren, David and Michelle.

A visitation will be held at the Highland Funeral Home - Scarborough on Thursday June 24th, 2021 followed by a Funeral Service on Friday June 25th, 2021 at 12 p.m. (EST). Due to covid restrictions, please contact the family if you would like to attend one of the visitation sessions otherwise they ask you join them via the livestream of the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or The SHN Birchmount Hospital.“

Together with Dad, and in our hearts always” – Daryl & Jan, Greg & Sandy, David and Michelle.
