Lew A King ThelmaLEW-A-KING, Thelma - Passed away peacefully on June 21, 2021 at Extendicare Guildwood Nursing Home in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Wong.

Thelma was born on October 15, 1930 in Georgetown, Guyana.

Her work life began at Brown Betty Restaurant where she was later promoted to manage the Ice Cream Wholesale department.

This experience gave Thelma the entrepreneurial drive that led her to establish a successful furniture store and restaurant on Robb Street in Georgetown.

In 1971, Thelma married the love of her life, Fred Lew-A-King. Thereafter, they immigrated to Canada to start a new life. While living in Canada, Thelma kept Guyana close at heart and enjoyed many vacations to her homeland.

After settling in Canada, Thelma was not ready for a life of leisure and decided to re-enter the workforce.

Cherished daughter of the late Celestina and Henry DeFreitas. Loved sister to Delores (deceased), Bonnie (deceased), Veronica (deceased), Barbara (deceased), Claudette (deceased), John (deceased), Chuck (deceased), Patsy, Joyce, Donald, Brenda, Roy, Mickey, Bernadette and Joan. Loved mother to Roberto, Gloria, Lauren, Joy and Juliet. Loving grandmother to Tricia, Stacy, Phillip, Melissa, Jason, Emily, Bianca, Jacinto, Natalie, Jonathan, and Samantha. Loving great grandmother to Jeremy, Marissa, Matthew, Mary Ann, Maya, Matthew, Riley, Noah, Avery, and Julia.

A celebration of Thelma’s life will be held at a later date when COVID-19 restrictions allow.
