HEYLAND, Dr. Peter Lawson - Passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 after 90 eventful years.
He left with a last, maskless kiss on his lips from the love of his life, Margaret.
His memory will be maintained by Margaret, his three sons and their partners, his eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren (with two more imminent) and his many friends and extended family members.
He was a powerfully intelligent, honourable, kind and decent man, a skilled anaesthesiologist and a completely devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Although he accomplished much in his life, his greatest joy lay in his 66 year marriage to Margaret and his family.
A founding doctor with North York General Hospital in 1968, it was wonderful that North York reciprocated his years of service and cared for him in his last months.
The family wishes to thank all the staff with North York General who so kindly and thoughtfully devoted themselves to his care during this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Peter Heyland’s name to either North York General Hospital Foundation or to St. Cyprians’ Anglican Church, North York would be appreciated.
There will be a public visitation from 11 am to 12 noon on Tuesday, July 27 at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 12 noon.
