BARR, Marjorie Rhoda Emily   - After a short illness in her 93rd year, Marj died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, on July 22, 2021.

Marj was born in Toronto to the late Alfred and Rhoda Hopkins (Bragg).

She had a successful career working as a clerk during the war, Simpson Sears and as a Customs and Excise Supervisor.

In 1947, Marj met and was married for 65 years to the man of her dreams, Melville Barr (deceased 2013).

She is survived by her 8 children, sons Ron and James (Susan) and daughters Marjie, Nancy, Susan (Emile), Kathy (Mike), Jan (Ian) and Karen (Ken), eleven grandchildren and 12 surviving great-grandchildren. Her interests included travelling, live theatre, reading, knitting, trips to the casino and social events at Rosedale Community Centre.

Marj had a special relationship with her late sister Millie, late sister-in-law Helen S. and her surviving best friend Helen W. She will be sorely missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Marj lived her life with purpose, courage, love, laughter and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved unconditionally and was proud of her family and found joy and pride in their lives, accomplishments and the people they have become.

We appreciate and would like to thank NP Beatrice for her care and support.

Due to restrictions, a private family ceremony will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
