GOLDRING, Marie Eliza (Thomas) - Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Bridgepoint Healthcare in her 77th year.
Beloved wife of Gordon Goldring of 47.5 years.
Loving mother to her daughters Natalie Goldring and Kristy Goldring (Antonio Calderaro), mother-in-law to Antonio and grandmother to her granddaughter Emma Joy Calderaro.
She was born in Tilley Road, New Brunswick, an Acadian French community to her late parents Sarah Ann McLaughlin from St-Irenee, New Brunswick and Ernest Thomas from Tilley Road, New Brunswick.
She was the beloved sister to Ernest Thomas (Claudia Parks), Rejeanne Comeau (Dominque Comeau), Rosemay Doiron (Jean-Guy Beaulieu), Rolande Doiron and France Richardson (Rolande Larocque). She will be fondly remembered by her in-laws and her many nieces and nephews.
Eliza did her nursing training at Hospital Hotel Dieu St. Joseph in Tracadie, New Brunswick given by the religious sisters in 1962-1963. She worked at Hotel Dieu for approximately 4 years and moved to Toronto in 1967. She met her future husband, Gordon in 1972 at the Edison Hotel which initially was a rest spot because one of her friend’s Odette had sore feet! This is how they met.
She worked at Hotel Dieu in Tracadie, New Brunswick and in Toronto – Hillcrest and Riverdale (now Bridgepoint Healthcare) Hospitals. She then worked at Toronto East General Hospital (now Michael Garron Hospital) for 22 years and retired in 2010.

Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. The funeral mass will take place at The Franciscan Church of St. Bonaventure, 1300 Leslie Street, North York on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00AM.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
