LOIZOU, Irene (Erini) - Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Irene (Erini) Loizou (nee Ioakim) passed away on July 30, 2021 in her 86th year.
Born in Cyprus in 1935, she immigrated to Canada in 1957 and met and married her devoted husband Nick in 1960.
They were married for 61 years and were inseparable.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Mary (the late Angelo), Chrisa (and her husband James), and her son Chris.
Irene was a loving and proud grandmother to Emanuel, Deborah, Nicholas, Christopher, and Erin. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Irene’s gentle nature always made her a kind hearted and sincere listener to her family and friends. Always welcoming and generous, she took great happiness in having her family and wonderful grandchildren around her.
Visitation will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive, on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 11:30 am until the time of the funeral in the church at 1 pm. Interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North York General Hospital Foundation to a project or fund of your choice.
