FERNANDES, Anthony Ligorio - Passed away peacefully on August 1, 2021 at Bethany Lodge Unionville, shortly after his 88th birthday and one year, one month following the passing of his beloved wife Rita Martha.
Anthony is predeceased by his parents Alex Xavier and Rosaria Santanna, his siblings Dominic, Mary, Dolorosa, and daughter Audrey.
He is remembered fondly by his brother Ralph, Lionel, sister Bernadette, children Lorraine (Tim), late Audrey (Peter), Alexandria (Alan), and grandchildren Connor, Spencer, Carly, Harrison, Mitchell and Emma.
Anthony & Martha married in 1960 and were blessed with three beautiful daughters. In 1970 they made a life-changing decision to move to Canada. This past year, they celebrated 61 years of marriage and 51 years in Canada. He was a devoted husband, caring father and proud grandfather.
Anthony will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will always be remembered as a gentle and humorous man. He was committed to his profession as a shipping manager at Hastings for over 25 years.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the compassionate care from all the staff at Bethany Lodge Unionville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada .
Friends and family can pay their respects at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, Markham for viewing on Wednesday August 4, 2021 and attend St. Patrick’s Parish, 5633 Highway 7, Markham for a mass on Thursday August 5, 2021 at 10:30 AM. A burial to follow.
