SERAVALLE, Gelmira - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Gelmira Seravalle.
Born October 3, 1929 in Braida, San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, she peacefully passed away the morning of September 15, 2021 at Sunnybrook Hospital.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 65 years, Giovanni (predeceased in 2018).
A loving mother to Anna (Louie Cosolo), Danny (Nancy).
Adored and cherished Nonna to Lauren (Furmas), David, and Luca.
She will be fondly remembered and is survived by her brother Davide Bortolussi (Nadia), sister-in-law Anita Seravalle, nieces, nephews, family and dear friends in Canada and Italy.
Gelmira’s life was one filled with love for her family, friends, and those whose lives she touched. She was a professional knitter by trade. An excellent cook and baker, she always enjoyed entertaining family and friends. A devoted Catholic who attended weekly Sunday mass and when she could no longer go, she would always watch the daily mass at home.
A special thank you to mom’s caregivers - Antonietta, Janet, Janice, and Astire - who always took such great care of her, and the excellent care she received in the palliative care unit at Sunnybrook Hospital these last 4 months.
Family and friends will be received at Bernardo Funeral Home, Dufferin Chapel, Toronto on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Fidelis Catholic Church (33 Connie Street) Toronto on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow.
In memory of Gelmira Seravalle, donations can be made to Palliative Care Unit in care of the Sunnybrook Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
