SHERRARD, Rosaleen Norah Gertrude   -  May 9, 1935 - September 15, 2021

Rosaleen (Roz) Sherrard, died peacefully at her home, on September 15, 2021.

She was born in Dublin, Ireland, and was the eldest daughter of Gerald and Nora Sherrard (nee O'Mahony).

She came to Canada in 1959 to marry Henry Heller and together they had two children, Christopher (died April 21, 2011) and Valerie.

She later met Peter Hart, who was directing a play at the Alumnae Theatre, and they settled down together for 34 years in "unwedded bliss".

Roz was a longtime member of the Alumnae Theatre and prided herself as a "techie".

She later served as president. She volunteered for the CNIB and Harbourfront Centre and was an enthusiastic member of the Arts and Letters Club in support of Peter's projects there.

One of her most extraordinary moments was when she attended the birth of her granddaughter and cut the umbilical cord! She is survived by her loving daughter Valerie and her two fabulous grandchildren, Simon and Robin Backewich and by her siblings Daphne Harris (nee Sherrard) and Thomas Sherrard.

She will be missed by her many friends and family members in Ireland, the U.K. and by her much-loved goddaughter Anna Ellison in Europe.

There will be a private family ceremony followed by a celebration of life, date to be determined.

Instead of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice.
