Thompson BarbaraTHOMPSON, Barbara - (1930 - 2021) - Barbara passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021 at Grace Manor Holland Christian Homes (HCH) in Brampton.

After losing her twin sister Frances earlier this year, she is now happily reunited with her sister. Barbara touched so many lives in her long and active life and will be remembered for her sweet and gentle kindness, her love and devotion to her family, and her service to others as a volunteer for numerous causes and organizations.

She will be missed terribly by her husband Philip Rand Thompson, her sons Rand (Angela), Scott, Dean (predeceased), Craig (Allan) and Derek (Wendy), her granddaughter Ryan and the many nieces, nephews and cousins of her large extended family.

Barbara will also be missed by the kind and loving staff at HCH, her essential caregiver Linda and her many friends.

Barbara was born in Newtonbrook (North York) and raised in Weston (Toronto), Woodbridge and Brampton. After graduating from Weston Collegiate and Vocational School (Weston Collegiate Institute) in 1948, Barbara worked at Avro Aircraft Ltd. in Malton for James. C. Floyd who led the design of the Avro Jetliner, CF-100 and the legendary CF-105 Avro Arrow. Barbara left Avro in 1953 to marry Philip in Woodbridge before moving to North Bay where she worked for a short time for Bell Telephone and where four of her five sons were born.

In 1965. Barbara moved to Brampton where she raised her family and was a long and active volunteer at Christ Church Anglican, Peel Memorial Hospital (William Osler Health System), Schizophrenia Society of Ontario, Liberal Party of Canada and other community organizations.

Throughout her life, Barbara developed and nurtured many strong and enduring friendships with people young and old. She was someone her friends and family could rely on and to whom many turned for comfort and support. In her 91 years she endured many hardships and sorrows but never allowed them to keep her from doing what she could to help others.

She leaves this life having made a difference in the lives of so many and is now in the company of her dear sister Frances Shirley Malof (nee Coon), son Dean, mother Mary Evelyn and father, Sydney Francis.

Arrangements and livestream church service details are entrusted with Ward funeral home, Brampton chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Church Brampton, the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario or the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.
