Seliger RoswithaSELIGER, Roswitha (Rose) (nee BUHL)   -  March 7, 1942 – September 12, 2021

Roswitha passed away peacefully in her sleep, on September 12, 2021.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Fred and numerous relatives and friends in Canada, the USA, Austria, and France.

She was an exceptional individual of many talents who loved meeting people and captivated them with her charm and sense of style.

She was born in Germany and at an early age developed an interest in travelling, meeting new people, and learning languages.

She met her future husband Fred at the University of Freiburg in 1964 while he was doing post-graduate work for his PhD at McGill University.

She went on to teach German at a Lycée in France.

Two years later they married in Germany and moved to Toronto.

She earned an Honours B.A. (French Language and Literature) at University College, University of Toronto in 1969 and then started a stellar teaching career at Riverdale Collegiate Institute, ultimately becoming Head of Modern Languages.

In 2001, she had a stroke which led to her early retirement. She loved to travel in Europe, North America, and the Caribbean.

Her hobbies included swimming, hiking, and skiing.

She was also a successful actress with the German Theatre of Toronto. Always active, she was an excellent cook and a perfect hostess for friends and colleagues alike. She will also be remembered by many former Riverdalians.

At her request, she has been cremated. When circumstances allow, close friends will be invited to celebrate her life.
