KOKKINIAS, Dimitrios   -  With great sadness we announce the passing of Dimitrios Kokkinias at the age of 91 on October 18, 2021, surrounded by family at the Hellenic Home for the Aged in Toronto.

Born in Vresthena, Greece, on April 8, 1930, Dimitris lost his father, a decorated Balkan War Veteran, at the age of nine.

He left Greece at 18 to train as an aircraft mechanic at the Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, returning in 1950 to pursue a challenging career that included positions with the Hellenic State Aircraft Factory (KEA), the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (EAB), and Olympic Airways.

Dimitris was a devout Orthodox Christian who loved nature, music, singing, and everything to do with farming, cooking and food. He enjoyed writing down his observations and ideas, and shared this gift for language with his sons.

Dimitris leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Panagiota (Koufopoulou), his cherished sons Ioannis (Anna), Vasilios (Yaqiong), Athanasios (Carrie), and Stavros (Yuan), and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Ioannis and Stamatou (Kakrida), siblings (Vasilios, Athanasios, Kassiani, and Maria), and stepson Konstantinos (Formouzis).

The funeral will be held Friday, October 22 at 10:30 a.m. (viewing at 10 a.m.), St. John's Greek Orthodox Church, 1385 Warden Ave. Interment to follow in Brampton.

Special thanks to the Hellenic Home for the Aged and Toronto Western Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hellenic Home for the Aged (Toronto).
