LEAVITT, Reta Mae   -  It is with sadness we announce the passing of Reta Mae Leavitt (née MacGillivray) on September 7, 2021.

Reta to her friends, Grammie to her family, and a joy to all who knew her, she is survived by 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and three sisters.

Born the third of 11 children on March 10, 1922 in New Glasglow, Nova Scotia, she married Kenneth Leavitt.

They lived in a dozen places over 49 years of happy marriage, until his death in 1991.

Reta died peacefully, with family at her side, in her room at Southlake Care Village, after a brief illness.

An animal lover who had many 4-legged companions over the years, she also enjoyed knitting, sewing, and needlework, inspiring that quiet passion in others.

She was much loved for her keen mind and acerbic wit, as well as her strong spirit and determination.

We mourn her passing, but she lives on in our hearts. May we all live so rich and full a life.
