SPRAGUE, Margaret (Rita) (nee CONLIN)   -  It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Margaret (Rita) Sprague (nee Conlin), on October 15, 2021, at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 82.

Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on September 26, 1939, to John and Margaret (Houston) Conlin.

She is survived by her sister, Marie Stokan, nieces, Carole Gebka and Suzanne Barto, five grandnieces and one great-grandniece, all residents of the United States.

Rita will also be sorely missed by her loving companion/helpmate, Cecil Louis, her unofficial daughter, Heather Wells, and her daughters Sydney and Katherine, and goddaughter Courtney Bainbridge.

Margaret graduated from Our Lady and St. Francis of Assisi Convent School in Glasgow, in 1953. Her first job was at the mailroom of the British Oxygen Company, eventually moving up to the company's bookkeeping department.

In 1978, she married Stewart Sprague.  She was a member (alto) of one of Holy Rosary's choirs and also of the Toronto City Choir.

She volunteered in the Holy Rosary "Out of the Cold" Program and took part in annual charity fundraising events like the Scotiabank 5K run and the CN Tower stair climb.

After retirement for health reasons, Margaret volunteered as a greeter/receptionist at United Way, eventually becoming a paid staffer before retiring.

A funeral Mass for Margaret will be held at Holy Rosary Church Catholic Church (354 St. Clair Avenue West), on Friday, November 12th at 9:30 a.m. Masks must be worn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Rosary Church, Michael Garron Hospital, St. Michael's Hospital, or St. Vincent de Paul's ministry at Holy Rosary. We extend special thanks to the staff of Revera Leaside (especially the second floor staff at No. 10) and the palliative care staff of Michael Garron Hospital, for the kindness and empathy with which they all cared for Rita.
