HARTRY, Douglas Clynick   - Slipped away on December 4, 2021 at age 95.

We thought he would live forever or at least until the Maple Leafs won a Stanley Cup but he missed his beloved Maxine (nee Armitage) more.

Their funerals are exactly five years apart.

Loving father to Nancy Hartry (Frank Burke), Lesley Marshall (Terry), and Susan Foley (Rod Millard).

Much loved grandpa to Scott Marshall (Julie), Trevor Marshall (Marie-Claire Buell), Kelly Marshall (Paul Tessaro), Lauren Govostis (Dino), Cameron Foley (Kim Dwyer), Gaelan Burke (Courtney), Jocelyn Burke (Naheed Jivraj).

His twelve boisterous great-grandchildren almost make a hockey team: Jack, Bodie, Cameron, Hudson, Theo, James, Charlie, Sylvie, Susie, Sloan Palmer, and Emma.

And devoted big brother to Mary Williams and Helen Higgins (predeceased). Doug worked hard and played harder.

He held senior positions at Confederation Life Insurance Company until forming Doug Hartry Insurance. "Mr. Annuity" was President of the Etobicoke Rotary Club, recipient of the Paul Harris Award, and active in St. Matthew's Anglican Church as their longest living parishioner.

A graduate of Victoria College at the University of Toronto, he played hockey for the Varsity Blues.

A lifelong athlete and outdoorsman, he enjoyed golf, skiing, boating, fishing and gardening and has instilled these interests in his children and grandchildren. Energetic. Fun loving. Civic minded.

Always with a kind word and smile.

A one hour visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 will be held at St Mathew's Anglican Church, 3962 Bloor St. West, Etobicoke. At the family's request guests are asked to be double-vaccinated. A private family service will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Rotary Club of Etobicoke to continue their good work in the community.
