DOUMOURAS, Bill (VASILIOS) - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, in his 71st year.
Beloved husband of Karin, proud Ba of Anna Maria (Duy), Katharina, Ari (Emma) and Alexandra (Manan), and loving Pappou of Aristéa and Nathaniel.
Bill (Vasilios) was born in Kotylion, Greece, on December 21, 1950 and came to Canada in 1964.
Bill started working for his father at the Red Arrow Car Wash in 1969; in 1983 he and his brother took over the business until they sold it and retired in 2004.
Bill and Karin married in 1981 and their children were all born in the 1980s – obviously a good decade.
Starting in the mid 1980s, Bill spent many hours on the soccer field coaching with the East York Soccer Club - coaching not only his children, but many others; he graduated from coaching house league and All Star teams, and together with Peter Koulis, coached competitive boy's, girl's, and women's teams with great success.
Bill was the treasurer of the St. Demetrios Greek Community and since his retirement spent many Sundays in the office as well as helping out at many of the various functions. Bill was kind and generous to all around him – a definite people person.
Most of all, he loved his family and was a believer in large family gatherings to keep us all connected.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 2nd, at Heritage Funeral Centre, from 4-8 p.m. Please register. The funeral will be held at St. Demetrius Greek Orthodox Church on Thorncliffe Park Drive, on Monday, January 3rd at 10 a.m. For those unable to make the service, it will be livestreamed via the St. Demetrios YouTube channel (St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Toronto). Interment will follow.
