SHELLEY, Pauline Mary (nee VIDLER)   - Peacefully, at Hospice Wellington, on December 27, 2021.

Born in 1924 in Westcliff-on-Sea, England, Pauline grew up in Winnipeg where she, briefly, met Brian, an RAF pilot, training in Canada.

A penpal romance of about three years ensued.

At the war's end, she travelled to Manchester, England, to marry the love of her life.

After a brief return to Canada, they moved to Brazil in 1950 but returned to Toronto in 1957.

Predeceased by her adoring husband, Brian H. Shelley (2004), she was the loving mother of Pamela West (Harold), Martin Shelley (Mary) and Leslie Hetherington (John), proud grandmother of Christopher Williamson (Jennifer) Brian Shelley (Maaike), Elanna Silvester (Dave), Heidi Marsh (Andy), Bonney Morris-Pocock (Jamie), Mark Hetherington (Jessica) and Gregory Hetherington. Great-grandmother of Hayley, Alex, Kate, Natalie, Colten, Charlie, Henry, Owen, Jack and Isaac.

Known for her constant smile and hospitality, Pauline was always the life of the party.

She volunteered for Church of Our Saviour, the Cancer Society, the Burma Star Association and a Brownie pack.

A life member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, Pauline and Brian sailed thousands of miles aboard SACI, making friends everywhere they went.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled when larger gatherings are permitted.

Sincere thanks to the team at Arbour Trails Residence (Guelph) and for the wonderful care at Hospice Wellington.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington or a charity of your choice would be much appreciated, or you could just smile at everyone you meet today!
