MELAI, Lucilla (nee BERTUCIOLLI) - Passed away peacefully, at age 91, on December 27, 2021, joining her beloved husband, Mario, and daughter, Stefania.
Lucilla will be missed by her daughter, Liliana and sons-in-law, Rocco and Vince with Margaret.
A cherished Nonna to Sonia and John, Mark and Cristina, Lisa and Chris, Tony and Amy, Mara and Jonny, and Daniela.
She was also a loving Bis-Nonna to Sebastian, Dante, Stefania, Alessandra, Jude, Stella, Anabelle, Rocco, Lenox and Sterling.
Born in Rome and married at the age of 19, she crossed the ocean alone with her 9 month old daughter to join her husband and start their new life in Argentina.
In 1965, she once again left the life she knew to start a new adventure in Toronto, Canada. She was beautiful and strong, kind and gentle and smart as a whip.
As the matriarch of our family, she will be forever missed. Rest in Paradise, Nonna.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 6th at 12:30 p.m. at Glendale Funeral Home and Cemetery, Etobicoke. with visitation on Wednesday, January 5th, from 5 to 9 p.m. Please note, proof of double vaccination and valid ID are required in order to attend the visitation and funeral. Masks are mandatory and physical distancing should be maintained.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
