Buchanan Dr MichaelBUCHANAN, Dr. Michael Robert   -   It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Dr. Michael Robert Buchanan on January 3, 2022.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Stephanie, his children Koa and Moss, his grandchildren Cole and Mila, his brother John, sister-in-law Marion and his cousin Sharon, as well as many friends and extended family.

Michael led a full life. He obtained a BA from University of Toronto followed by a PhD from McMaster University.

Following a year of postdoctoral work at Harvard, Michael took an academic position at McMaster. He was a highly successful researcher in his field of Pathology and Molecular Medicine.

During his career, he made three unique discoveries and achieved the rank of Full Professor.

Following his retirement, the university promoted him to the rank of Professor Emeritus.

But Michael did not rest on his laurels! He started a second career, acting in Film and Television.

You can catch glimpses of him in commercials as well as in more substantial roles in film such as: 'The 12th', 'Things I Do for Money' and 'Shadowlands'. In addition to his professional careers, he loved to travel, read, and more recently play with his grandkids Cole and Mila, who he loved dearly.

At Michael's request, no service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held later.

During these challenging times, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local food bank or animal shelter.

The family would like to thank the staff on ward 3B at St Catharines General Hospital for their care and compassion.
