PLUDONS, Varimants   - It is with sadness that the family of Varimants Pludons announce his passing, at the age of 93, on January 3, 2022.

Varis will be lovingly remembered by Ausma, his wife of 70 years.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter Anita Scott, wife of the late Randy Scott, and his grandchildren Erik Scott (Michelle) and Karin Fischer (Chris) as well as his great-grandchildren Connor, Kennedy, Thomas and Allison.

Born in Latvia, Varis moved to Canada as a young man following the end of the Second World War.

Varis met his wife Ausma in Sudbury, and together they moved to Toronto where they created a life centered around family and friendship. Varis loved both the country of his birth, and his new home.

He proudly flew both the Canadian and Latvian flag at his cottage on Longs Lake in Muskoka, where he spent many happy times with his family during the summer months. Varis was awarded the "Tris Zvaigznu Ordenis" (Order of the Three Stars) for his service to the Latvian community in both Canada and Latvia.

Varis will be remembered by all who knew him for his generosity, sense of humour and kindness.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held later in 2022.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity in memory of Varis.
