Salo KatherineSALO, Katherine   -   February 4, 1921 - January 9, 2022

Just shy of her 101st birthday, having graced this earth for over a century with warmth, charm, hospitality and motherly devotion, our belovèd Mama/Baba has decided it's time to reunite with loved ones in Heaven, including husband Julian (1982), parents Maria and Joannis, and brothers Stanislav and Casimir.

No doubt Katherine has already rolled up her sleeves and is cooking and baking up a storm for them.

And, as always, she will add a dollop of love into everything she makes.

Because Katherine was suddenly separated from her parents during the war only to reunite with them 30 years later, she cherished family above all else.

Katherine was a fiercely proud and devoted mother. And that love radiated to all those around her, for which we are eternally grateful. Fondest memories with Katherine will forever be treasured by her children Bobby (Wilma), Irene, Peter (Maggie), grandchildren Nicole (Sean), David (Kelly), Julian, Sharie, and great-grandchildren Patrick, Connor, Kieran, Sam, Aubry, Maeve, Brennan, Luca, Noella, plus sister Maria Tkaczyk in Poland. We may have lost our Matriarch but have in turn gained a most special Guardian Angel.

The family would like to extend thanks to the exceptional care provided by Dr. Vatche Kerametlian throughout the years and more recently by Dr. Philippe Toupin plus his team at the Dorothy Lee Hospice Centre. We also are grateful for our loving PSW's from SRT Med Staff.

Due to current restrictions, the family is holding a private funeral.

A celebration of life will follow once mass gatherings are allowed. Besides family, there were many others who connected with mom thanks to her inquisitive nature and her ever-forthcoming treats.

We look forward to toasting Katherine and sharing memories of this remarkable woman with friends when the time is right.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Katherine may be made to St. Demetrius the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church, Dorothy Lee Hospice or a charity of your choice. Vichnaya Pamyat!.
