MYERS, Sarah Jane - Sarah Jane Myers (often called Jenny) born January 3, 1923, passed away on January 14, 2022 at the Wexford long term care home in Toronto.
Predeceased by brothers Joseph Crawford Myers, George Myers, and Harry (Percy) Myers, and parents George and Jessie Myers.
Sarah had a full, long, and interesting life highlighted by an operatic career in Europe after World War II where she studied and sang in Italy, Austria and Germany.
Both before and after Europe, Jenny sang locally. She returned to Newmarket to assist in the running of the longstanding Myers Variety Store on Main Street as well as its transformations into Myers Variety and Gifts and later Myers Costumes.
In addition to her business work and longstanding interest in singing (she could still carry a tune into her 90s), she loved animals, particularly dogs and contributed to the local SPCA.
She knew her own mind.
Those who remember her shall miss her.
