WILLIAMS, Doreen Esther Williams   -  Of Toronto, Ontario, passed away January 21, 2022 in North York General Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer.

Doreen was born February 6, 1933 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Leonard and Esther Glasbrenner.

Predeceased by her parents and her brother Don.

She leaves to mourn her passing daughters Kathy, Kim (Jim) Carter, grandson Corey Carter and nieces and nephews. Doreen grew up in a loving family in La Crosse.

As a young adult she moved to Chicago, where her lovely girls were born.

She was a soloist in her church choir, her favourite musical piece being Ava Marie. In 1969, Doreen moved to Canada and settled in Toronto with her family.

Doreen was an avid gardener. She worked at Weall and Cullen Nurseries where this love for gardening was nurtured. You could often see her puttering around her garden carefully tending her flowers.

If you had a question about flowers, Doreen was your person.

Doreen never lost her enthusiasm for her favourite team. You can take the girl out of Wisconsin, but you can't take Wisconsin out of the girl.

Doreen volunteered at North York General Hospital after her retirement.

In the neighbourhood she was known as "The Saint" by the local children. The community will miss her smile and passion for those see loved.

Doreen was the rock of her family. Her wisdom, guidance and love will be missed by those who called her mom, grandma, friend and neighbour.

A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Doreen's memory.
