It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Irija at the age of 91, at the Moir Centre for Continue Complex Care. Irija was predeceased by her husband, the Reverend Donald R. Cook, in 1998.

She is survived by her sister, Tina (Tynne) Hembruff (Albert 2014).

She is predeceased by her bothers, Tiovo (2021) and Emeli (1995) and Viljmi (1936).

Irija valued education and was a lifelong learner. She obtained a BA Ed. from U of T in 1977, as well as her BA Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1977. In 1979, she started teaching ESL in Toronto.

Irija continued with her own studies over the next few years studying Latin, Philosophy, and Curriculum Design.

Being a Clergy spouse, she lived in many communities (Victoria, BC, Peterborough, Washago, Toronto) supporting her husband and the Anglican community.

Irija has been a member of St. Matthew Anglican Church, Islington for many years. She will be missed by Tina, her neighbours, and her Church family at St. Matthew's.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, 3962 Bloor Street W. Toronto from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
