HUNTER, Gordon Douglas   -  April 2, 1940 to June 19, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce that Gord passed away on Sunday, June 19th, after a long struggle with cancer.

He is survived by Susan, his loving wife of 57 years; his devoted sons, Michael (Laurie) and Geoff (Jordana).

Gord will also be sadly missed by his wonderful grandsons, Ryan, Adam, Alex and Campbell. He leaves behind his siblings, Ken (Marg) and Jane (Rick).

Gord was predeceased by his parents, Doug and Doris (nee Bridges).

The eternal optimist and positive spirit, after his cancer diagnosis, Gord told everyone how much he cherished his 81 happy and healthy years. He often would say "I married my dream girl, had two amazing sons and daughters (in-law), five beautiful grandsons, had some business successes and made many friends along the way. I'm one lucky guy!".

He worked very hard on many fundraising events over the decades. For his generous dedication to helping others, Gord was inducted into the Special Olympics Ontario – Volunteer Hall of Fame in 2014.

Gord's family will miss him beyond words. His many stories and jokes will be cherished, his fatherly advice will be put into action, and his kindness will live on through his family and friends.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Revera Beechwood Court for the care and comfort Gord received during his final months.

As per Gord's final wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to Special Olympics Ontario or The Canadian Cancer Society.
