Day NormanDAY, Norman James   - July 16, 1928 - June 19, 2022

Passed away peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital listening to jazz he loved surrounded by his daughter Kim and puppy Lola on Sunday June 19th.

Norman originally from Portsmouth, England moved to Canada with his beloved wife, Cynthia Day in 1962 where they were active members in the community.

Norman was a teacher with the Toronto Board and journalist here in Canada and England as well as an active hike leader for over 75 years.

Norman led many hikes with the Bruce Trailing Hiking Clubs and The Toronto Hiking Club over the years.

He also led numerous hiking trips around the UK for a number of years with his own hiking company.

Norman also was a lover of music and books listening to jazz in his final moments.

Norman was survived by Cynthia by 72 hours as a true love story she followed him suddenly on Wednesday, June 22nd after being married for 62 years.

They were both survived by their daughter Kim Day and their puppy, Lola. He was also survived by his nephews and nieces as well as various great niece and nephews and will be remembered as the "cool" uncle in England and South Africa. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family here in Canada and throughout the world.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Norman and Cynthia on Thursday, July 14th, at Carens Rosedale, 1118 Yonge Street, Toronto from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a small service at 2:45 p.m.
