HOLMES, Rosalie   -  April 30, 1928 - June 29, 2022 Rosalie Holmes passed away while surrounded by family, at the Penticton Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

Rosalie had a long and successful career as a social worker and administrator, graduating with a B.A. in psychology from the University of Alberta and a M.S.W. in psychiatric social work from the University of Toronto.

She was one of the first three professionally trained social workers hired by the Child Welfare Department in the Alberta government, and the first with an M.S.W.

She worked for several years for the Children's Aid Society in Toronto before her retirement in 1993 when she moved to Penticton, BC.

All important to Rosalie were her family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Linda; children, Nancy, Doug, and Jennifer; grandchildren, Doug, Ian, Alex, Pierre and Marie; and great-grandchildren, Jenny, Toby and Zoya.

Other members of her loving family include her son-in-law, Dave; daughter-in-law, Dominique; and nieces, Jill and Danielle; as well as their families and other extended family members.

She was predeceased by her sister, Marian. She had a gift for friendship and she loved children, reading, travel, and parties. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial gathering will be held at Everden Rust Funeral Chapel, in Penticton on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 1 p.m.

The family would like to thank the health care professionals who provided compassionate care for her in her last days.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Rosalie's name to the Canadian Red Cross's Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, the BC Cancer Foundation, or a children's Charity of Your Choice.
