Bishop WilliamBISHOP, William Richard George   -   October 16, 1931 - October 27, 2022

The family of William "Bill" Bishop, with great sadness, announces his passing on October 27, 2022.

Bill was in his 92nd year, and lived a full and admirable life.

Bill was born and raised in East York, Ontario. His parents, William and Martha Bishop, and brother, Walter Bishop, were a close family whose values were strong.

Bill met the love of his life, Margaret Elizabeth Burnett, and they married on April 25, 1958.

Bill and Margaret had two children, Stephen and Elaine. Margaret passed away on November 12, 2003. She is deeply missed by her family.

Bill was a proud member of the Toronto Police Service.

He served with distinction from October 27, 1949, until August 1, 1993. He attained the rank of Detective Superintendent. His policing career includes too many accolades to list.

He held himself to a high standard and was truly respected. He set a fine example for all who worked with him. Bill's legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren. He was especially proud of his two grandsons, Hayden and Riley Bishop, both of whom carry their grandfather's memory and values in their hearts.

Bill's son, Stephen, and his wife, Marita, along with their sons, Hayden and Riley; and his daughter, Elaine, and her husband, Andrew Cernowski, would like to thank the staff at Cedarbrook Lodge, the staff at Spectrum Health Care, and all of the people who cared for him in his declining years.

Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.

A private gathering will be held at a later date to pay tribute to a life well lived.

In honour of Bill's memory, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated.
