HENTHORN, Jessie  -

1928 - 2023

 

Jessie Henthorn passed away in Toronto, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the age of 94.

 

Jessie was predeceased by her parents, Celina Grace Henthorn (nee Colley) and Wilfred Henthorn; her sister, Irene Toth; her brother, Brandon Henthorn; and niece, Janet Woods; and survived by beloved sister, Beryl Woods; niece, Wendy Voralek (nee Woods); and nephews, Brandon Frank Woods, Michael Glen Toth, and Leslie Brandon Toth and their families.

Jessie was born on June 28, 1928, in Moorside, England, a small village in North Lancashire.

 

Following World War II, Jessie worked as a nurse in France, Papua, New Guinea, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Australia, and the Cook Islands, and finally settled in Toronto in the 1970s.

 

A devout Christian, Jessie was committed to giving to those most in need. She was active in her church and bible study group and various charitable organizations, including Meals on Wheels, where she volunteered for many years.

 

She enjoyed friends and many activities in the Beaches community of Toronto.
