Grgic StjepanGRGIC, Stjepan   -

October 24, 1947 - March 25, 2023

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our beloved father, Stjepan Grgic, on March 25, 2023, at the age of 75.

Stjepan passed away surrounded by his family and will be lovingly remembered by his son, Vinko (Joanne); daughters, Anne, Maria (Ivan with grandsons, Theodore and Oliver), and Nicole (Aldo); and many other family members and friends in Canada and Croatia, including his dear brother, Matija, in Canada, and brothers, Nikola and Ivica in Croatia.

Stjepan proudly came from humble beginnings in Adzamovci, a village close to Nova Gradiska, Croatia, and from early on he strived academically.

Life led him with the love of his life, Ruzica, who sadly passed away in 2008, first to Switzerland and finally to Toronto, Canada.

Stjepan was a proud Croatian-Canadian, a devout Catholic and a family man, as well as a firm believer in fairness and justice. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren. He was always willing to help others and often did so silently, especially while working at the Croatian Credit Union in Toronto, the Croatian Fraternal Union in the USA and while fundraising for those affected, especially children, by the Croatian homeland war.

He will forever be remembered as a gentleman who had a gentle heart and charming demeanour with a penchant for sweets, finding four-leaf clovers, and reading all types of literature, especially newspapers.

The Wake Service will be held Sunday, April 2nd, between 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., and the Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Croatia Church in Toronto. Interment to follo.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be collected at the wake and directed to Fr. Odilon Singbo for a girl's orphanage in Benin.
