Dekker JohnDEKKER, John (Lambertus Johannes)   -

June 17, 1932 - March 26, 2023

Predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol; his brother, Bram; and two sons, Girard and Robbie.

John is survived by his daughters, Alison Roberts (Dave) and Jennifer Braches (Fred); his granddaughter, Constance Thoburn (Brian McCleod); and by great-granddaughters, Keira and Kyla Thoburn.

Born in Leiden, Netherlands, John experienced the awful years of German occupation and the frequent bombing that was part of World War II.

As a young man, he was engaged in the study of aeronautics when he was drafted for national service. He became a student pilot and was sent under the NATO program to Canada to train with the RCAF.

His experience in Canada made him determined to immigrate to Canada, where he ultimately met his wife, Carol. Working at first with TCA, he later studied electronics and through progressive work experience at various instrumentation and control systems companies, he was offered a position with Ontario Hydro, where he worked until his retirement. Throughout his years, John was never idle, and kept his home and all that entailed in good repair.

Loving great music, he developed a fine stereo and speaker system that allowed him to enjoy his extensive collection of jazz and classical music.

Sadly, John passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and dear friend, Christy McCool. If you wish to remember John, please give to Evergreen Hospice.

Cremation has taken place. No service will be held.
