Vera Marie Goodyear "Marie" was born in St. John's, NL, to Richard Maxwell Goodyear and Mary Jane Blundon. The family moved to Ontario when she was a child.
She graduated from Queen's University in Kingston (1967) and in 1988, received her Master of Divinity from the Atlantic School of Theology.
She married Norm Esdon in 1973.
Following her ordination, she served Crystal City and Clearwater Pastoral Charge, Manitoba (1988-1997), and then Deer Park United Church in Toronto (1999-2013), where she retired after 25 years in ordained ministry.
Marie died surrounded with love by members of her church family. She is survived by several cousins. Passionate about preaching and caring for God's creation, Marie loved reading, writing, watching the Toronto Blue Jays and laughing.
A service will be held with the ecumenical shared ministry of Deer Park United and Calvin Presbyterian at 26 Delisle Ave., Toronto, on April 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with reception to follow.
