MILNE, Margaret "Peggy" Lillian Stewart  - Captain Margaret "Peggy" Lillian Stewart Milne, CD, BA, born February 6, 1925, to Dr. Gilbert Oren Stewart and Edna Clarke Stewart, in Arnprior, Ontario, died peacefully, of natural causes, on April 24, 2023, at 98.

Peggy served in the Canadian Army in WWII (W-21219), and continued service after the war in the Militia, serving with the Intelligence Company, the Toronto Service Battalion, and on Staff, rising to WO2, then Commissioned for merit, when Women Officers were rare indeed.

After university, Peggy was a respected Civil Servant with the MTO in Toronto.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Milne, himself a wartime Infantry Officer who shared her interest in Veterans welfare.

After Edward's death, Peggy honoured Edward's wishes that his father's WWI medals be donated to a military museum.

Captain Edward Milne (senior) was one of Canada's "4 years in the trenches" soldiers who earned Mention-in-Dispatches, the Distinguished Conduct Medal twice, and a Military Cross, was wounded at least 5 times, and died at sea when his Hospital Ship was torpedoed by a U-Boat. Those Milne medals are now with the Calgary Highlanders Museum.

Visitation at 4 p.m., Funeral at 6 p.m. on the May 3, 2023, at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 527, 948 Sheppard Ave. W., North York, ON M3H 2T6.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Last Post Fund are requested.
