KISHIBE, Kaye  - It is with deep sadness that his family announces the passing of Kaye Kishibe.

 

He died peacefully, on April 28, 2023, at Michael Garron Hospital with his wife, Mary, at his side.

 

He was 85 years old. In addition to his wife, Kaye, he leaves his son, Hiro, his daughter, Teruko, her husband, Sunny Gafur and his granddaughter, Madoka.

 

He also leaves his brother, Kenzo (Ken) of Thornhill, Ontario. Kaye was predeceased by his older brother, Ko, in 2018. Kaye's childhood was spent in New Denver and Tashme internment camps: Hakodate, Japan, London, Ontario.

 

He worked for the Toronto Public Library as librarian and head of Technical Services.

 

Kaye was an active member of St. Andrew's Japanese Anglican Congregation.

 

In retirement, he wrote about Japanese Canadian history. Kaye is remembered as gentle, wise and empathetic.

 

His Funeral is at St. David's Anglican Church, 49 Donlands Avenue, at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 9th.
