Muir WilliamMUIR, William "Bill"   -

June 29, 1931 - April 13, 2023

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Muir, of Toronto, Ontario, peacefully, in his sleep, on April 13, 2023.

Born in Paisley, Scotland, June 29, 1931, he was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, an uncle, a grandfather, and a beloved friend to many.

A veteran of the Korean War, he later worked many years for the Salvation Army and Goodwill, and was a past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 210.

Always the life of the party, he was a talented musician and had a passion for entertaining family and friends with his trumpet playing, piano playing, singing, and telling jokes.

Even through his eight-year long battle with dementia, and his last year with cancer, he never lost his sense of humour, pleasant disposition, good manners, gratitude, and his concern for his family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Stevenson; his brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and May Muir; his daughter, Elizabeth Rennie; his daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Mario Ferrante; his granddaughter, Erica Muir and her husband, Sekou Lumumba; his grandson, Matthew Rennie and his partner, Julia Bird; his treasured niece and nephews, Debbie, Robert, Tom, Gordon, John, Jim, and Richard, and their extended families.

Our sincere thanks and extreme gratitude to the very special staff on 3W at Southlake Village for their kindness, compassion, and the great care they provided for the last three-plus years.

Following his cremation, a private family service was held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Trinity United Church.
