Waddams StephenWADDAMS, Stephen Michael  -

September 30, 1942 - May 27, 2023

 

Stephen died peacefully at home in Toronto. He was born in Woking, England to parents Margaret and Rev. Canon Herbert Waddams.

 

The family moved together to Canada in 1959, where Stephen remained to study at Trinity College, University of Toronto, B.A. and the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, LL.B.

 

He went on to study at Cambridge University, M.A., PhD and at the University of Michigan Law School, LL.M., S.J.D. Stephen dedicated his professional life to an esteemed career of 54 years as a legal scholar and Professor of Law at the University of Toronto. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1988.

 

He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne; children, Alison Chong (Scott MacKenzie) and Michael Waddams; as well as grandchildren, Caleb and William Chong, Mira and Ava Waddams; and sister, Catherine Waddams (Morten Hviid) and family.

 

Private interment will take place at St. John's, York Mills.
