McMurtry PeterMcMURTRY, Peter Ashbourne  -

1931 - 2023

Peter's family is sad to announce his passing on August 22nd, at Michael Garron Hospital.

He will be much missed by his sons, Darcy and Evan (Alice); wife, Susan; and nephew, Andrew.

He was predeceased by his brother, Denton; sister-in-law, Therese; brother-in-law, Ian Campbell; and his parents, Claude and Rosamond (nee Denton).

Born January 10, 1931, Peter was a lifelong Torontonian, but his heart was in Leaside, where he lived for many years. He belonged to local ratepayers' organizations, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, participated in events at the Library and made friends of his neighbours.

Always active, he played tennis and shinny hockey until his late 70s and rode his bike everywhere. He was a regular at the St. Michael's hockey arena, where he was a devoted fan of the Buzzers. Most of all, he loved talking to people and hearing their stories.

Peter's Funeral will be in his neighbourhood at Leaside United Church, McCrae Drive and Millwood Road, on Friday, September 29th, at 11:00 a.m. with a Reception to follow. Please bring a "Peter" story.
