Papas ErnestPAPAS, Ernest Carl  -  After a long and fulfilling life, the family of Ernest Papas sadly announce his death on September 10, 2023.

 

Ernie was 93 years old.

 

Ernie is survived by his loving wife Sandra Jolley, and children Alison Withey, Andrea Sigulim, Lauren Francoz, Lisa Papas, and stepson Malcolm Jolley.

 

He was the proud and loving grandfather of Alec, Aryelle, Benjamin, Caroline, Hamish, Hannah, Katherine, Noah, and Will.

 

He is also survived by his niece Dianne Phillips, former wife Carol Rothwell, and predeceased by his sister Sunny Olga Phillips. Ernie was born at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal on August 11, 1930.

 

Schooled in Montreal, Ernie's passion for business led him to McGill Commerce where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1952.

 

He subsequently earned a Chartered Accounting Degree, a Licentiate Accounting Degree, and received intensified consulting training by PA Management Consultants from England. In Toronto, Ernie had a successful career as a consultant before branching out as an executive of a display manufacturing company, a diesel distribution company and, finally, doing Bay Street corporate financial work.

 

Being a patron of the arts, the Ontario Government appointed Ernie to serve on the Art Gallery of Ontario Board of Trustees.

 

Following cremation, a service and inurnment will take place at Bethesda by the Sea, Palm Beach, Florida where Sandra and Ernie were married 36 years ago.
