HOTHAM, Douglas Harold - Having just turned 90 a month earlier Doug passed away peacefully after a brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Newmarket Health Centre.
He is survived by his wife Norma, sons Brent (Kate) and Greg (Janine).
Doug loved his grandchildren Scott (Kyla), Andrew (Ashley), Shannon (Gustavo), Janis (Alex) and Christine (Steve). He adored his great-granddaughter Violet.
Doug also left behind his brother Ray (and the late Joan and their children) and was predeceased by another brother George. Other relatives from London, ON, where he grew up will also mourn his loss.
Doug was a very proud and long-time member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 129 in Aurora, ON. The family is thankful for the care Doug received at Southlake Regional Health Centre but more recently at the Newmarket Health Centre where the care and compassion shown by the staff was wonderful.
There is no funeral service and cremation has taken place as per his wishes.
A memorial service is being held at St. Andrew's Valley Golf Course, 4 Pinnacle Trail in Aurora, Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 1 to 4 p.m. At 2 p.m. during the memorial service a brief Masonic Service will be held as per Doug's wishes.
