MEAKER, Loretta Katherine  - January 11, 1939 – Port Arthur, Ontario October 16, 2017 –

Calgary, Alberta Loretta, Mom, passed away at her home in Walden Care Home, Calgary on Monday, October 16, 2017.

Her son, Greg, daughter, Kathy and son-in-law, Randy were at her side.

She moved to Calgary from Ontario after Dad's death in December 2014 to be closer to her family.

Mom was a vibrant, cottage-loving woman (a "woman's libber" as Dad used to say) who embraced life, loved her husband Don, children Kathy, Chris and Greg and grandchildren, Jordan and Alexandra. She was a published Author, passionate Teacher and mentor to many in her profession. Many will remember her as a featured presenter at numerous ESL conferences across Canada.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Lennie (husband Randy) of Edmonton; sons, Christopher (wife Laurel) of Washington, DC and Gregory (husband Gerry Landreville) of Calgary. She is also survived by her two cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Alexandra (husband Adam Rice) all of Washington, DC; and her brother, Jack Hunchik (wife Helen and children David and Karen) of Welland, ON.

A Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by A Quaker Gathering in Celebration of Loretta's Life at McInnis & Holloway,  (Crowfoot Chapel, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW) today, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to share thoughts and prayers. Following the service there will be a Memorial gathering at Greg and Gerry's residence, where with food and wine, we will celebrate the remarkable and loving woman, whom will be dearly missed and who while not here will always be in our hearts.

Dad and Mom, we know you are together again.
